Safari Sam's is an afterschool daycare and family fun center located in Sherwood, Oregon. It is the strip-mall anchor tenant, with the interior converted from a grocery store to a miniature golf course. I worked with and under the direction of John Jennings, a locally renowned aquatic muralist. We painted over the main mural with his proprietary ultraviolet reactive pigments, so that we could fade the fluorescent lights (day) to blacklights (night), revealing an erupting volcano and the fires of tribal torches glowing in the trees.
Here is the full wall, roughly 15′ x 90′. There were structural posts we turned into trees.
Amidst this jungle scene was a jungle-themed indoor miniature golf course.
