This was a project I did as a subcontractor for Multimedia Resources, Inc., a company that specialized in interactive systems. This one was for Wellspring, called DORIS (Doctor's Office Receiving Information System), planned to help patients and doctors by facilitating quick information collection and recording at check-in.
First, I started with some concepts that could be easily fabricated. ADA compliance such as for wheelchair access and the visually impaired, as well privacy from prying eyes while entering sensitive data…were prime considerations in the plinth design and user interface.
We arrived at a solution that looks like this:
